The complete title of this issue of my Blog is:


a) My opinion about this

-In life, but especially for technology ADEQUATE is a very friendly, desirable adjective. Beyond its etymology and its many quasi equivalents in translations (in Romanian it exists as "adecvat" but "fitting" (potrivit) is more popular.
Its direct antonym inadequate is a sentence to death in science and in technology-
politics for example is not so tolerant re total lack of quality.
Yesterday I wrote about chaos in LENR,  s regarding its cause, it seems we still are not using the really necessary, significant, relevant source, methods, thinking- so we are lacking adequacy on the whole intellectual activities' hierarchy- data, information, knowledge, wisdom, prediction.
As I have told it many times, I think adequacy can be found only at and from complete LENR systems- vapor phase, high temperature transition-metsls based and not in the classic system. Short term, re-focus LENR research from Pd Cool to Ni hot, despite or exactly because we know more about Pd and the experimental base for Ni is still smaller than that for Pd. We know  a lot about Pd but is this indeed adaequate for deeper, holistic understanding and for the advancement of the whole LENR field?My personal opinion is still that it is much more Unknown than Known in LENR.Of what help is if we know a lot about the hallux (big toe)  for the study of the foot- for example the knee? (I just have rheumatic pains)
We need adequate DIKWP and this is in the future.

b) Edmund Storms has a different opinion

Peter, you note that chaos exists in the LENR field and you suggest ways it can be reduced. Yes, I agree, this is a problem. I know of only one way to reduce chaos, which is to apply what is known about what is real. That is, use what is observed in the lab to guide the imagination. I attempted to provide this information in several books and in many review papers. Chaos reigns because people in the field ignore most of this information. This approach is easily detected simply by looking at the list of references provided in a paper about LENR. Most papers make no effort to examine or reference other studies. Instead, the references list mostly what the authors have published in the past. In other worlds, people keep plowing the same ground without caring what other people have discovered. I see no hope for the chaos to be reduced until people from the normal scientific professions get interested in the subject. Conventional scientists normally are much less dogmatic in their opinions and more interested in what other people believe than is typical of people in this field.

Also, a good way to get knowledge about what someone else knows is to ask questions. I have found that this approach is very rare in this field. Everyone has an opinion that is unmoved by any argument. Therefore, questions are not asked because the answers mean nothing to the individual. As result, nothing changes. The same opinions are expressed and defended without change, regardless of the evidence. So, I see no future for this field until it becomes part of normal science. Unfortunately, I do not see this happening any time soon.
The discussion will continue and history will define what is the adequate LENR ideology.

The key to LENR is strong coupling between the hydrogen atom and light.

Nonperturbative coupling of light with condensed matter in an optical cavity is expected to reveal a host of coherent many-body phenomena and states [1–7]. In addition, strong coherent light-matter interaction in a solid-state environment is of great interest to emerging quantum-based technologies [8, 9]. However, creating a system that combines a long electronic coherence time, a large dipole moment, and a high cavity quality (Q) factor has been a challenging goal [10–13]. Here, we report collective ultrastrong light-matter coupling in an ultrahigh-mobility two-dimensional electron gas in a high-Q terahertz photonic-crystal cavity in a quantizing magnetic field, demonstrating a cooperativity of ∼360. The splitting of cyclotron resonance (CR) into the lower and upper polariton branches exhibited a √ ne-dependence on the electron density (ne), a hallmark of collective vacuum Rabi splitting. Furthermore, a small but definite blue shift was observed for the polariton frequencies due to the normally negligible A 2 term in the light-matter interaction Hamiltonian. Finally, the high-Q cavity suppressed the superradiant decay of coherent CR, which resulted in an unprecedentedly narrow intrinsic CR linewidth of 5.6 GHz at 2 K. These results open up a variety of new possibilities to combine the traditional disciplines of many-body condensed matter physics and cavity-based quantum optics.

The key to LENR is strong coupling between the hydrogen atom and light. When the cavity that holds the hydrogen is the optimum size, vacuum energy provides most of the energy to delocalized electrons from protons to form metalized hydrogen. The optimum cavity size does the same job as extreme pressure to form metalized hydrogen. 

If hydrogen is packed into a Nano cavity of the ideal size a strong coupling state might be achieved between the protons in the hydrogen and the light. In this way a state of superconductive coherence of protons might be formed: a proton condinsate. 

This state of superconductivity has been detected by Holmlid and Miley in iron oxide. The high temperature proton BEC might produce a super-dense state of hydrogen as measured by Holmlid where the electrons and protons are delocalized from each other, this state of charge delocalization has been seen in water inclusions inside a crystal.

What actually compresses the protons into a condinsate is vacuum energy because the cavity squeezes the light/matter condensate greatly. 

As described in the referenced article by looking for a hydrogen BEC in cavities, a LENR researcher could find the ideal dimensions of the Nano cavity that produces the condensed hydrogen and engineer a material that produces this ultra-dense hydrogen crystal in abundance.

Currently in LENR reactors, pure chance produces metalized hydrogen in a highly porous metal that feature a wide range of cavity sizes which include the optimum cavity size that is made widely available by random chance.

What really compresses hydrogen to the LENR active ultra-dense metalized state is not high pressure, but the ideal combination of cavity shape/size, light frequency, EMF environment and vacuum energy.

Thinking about chaos and LENR,  Chaos and LENR

As you probably have remarked my blog strategy is to write daily and offer you LENR information, and, in the same time to examine the problems and perspectives
of LENR from a different - if possible new- point of view. 
This morning I have decided to think and write about chaos in our field- and how could we have less of it... then in the late afternoon I came upon this paper revealing a novel facet of the concept:

Chaos could provide the key to enhanced wireless communications

It is multi-directional chaos in LENR:
- expressive chaos- conceptual the concept are not well defined and related'
- explanatory chaos- many incompatible, uncorrelable theories, lack of taxonomy;- -  - exegetic chaos- no unitary, systematic interpretation of the data and facts;
- exploratory chaos- experimental strategy is rather aleatory no best ways and best practises established.
But there are already forming islands or order and rationality in the chaos.
For those who dislike "chaos" we can call it "slight disorientation".

ICCF20 will be an opportunity to find and build more order in LENR and to reduce significantly the chaos- a task for the real LENR community. The people who care for LENR.

 Interest has significantly increased in the study of LowEnergy Nuclear Reactions. Especially after the publication of the test results from Andrea Rossi’s high-temperature heat source that operates on a mixture of Nickel powder and Lithium Aluminum Hydride. Initial experiments showed that the reaction is unstable; occurring in a narrow temperature range (in practice, it is outside the melting temperature of the fuel materials). In this work we describe the design of the heat generator, the calorimetric method for measuring the amount of heat energy. The results demonstrate excess heat during heating the powder mixture of Ni and Li[AlH4] to temperatures ranging from 1030—1140 C. The generator did not expose an X-ray photographic emulsion.

The inventor created his LENR reactor with a working temperature intermediary between those of the E-Cat and the Hot E-Cat of Rossi (750 C) - similar as construction with Rossi's nigh temperature generator, however with the difference that Rossi has increased the temperature while Kuznetsov has increased the pressure of hydrogen.

As was shown in the Lugano demo, waveform stimulation produces a limited power density reaction that does not exceed at most COP=3 and some say far less. The stimulation that might be used to produce the very high COP is the electrostatic stimulation that generates the TAO effect. That is the reference to the two electrodes that can produce an EMF potential of up to 100,000 volt and is defined in an update to the Rossi patent.

If you read this patent update that references the NEW electrostatic stimulator which operates between 50 and 100 KV, Rossi says that the resistance heater is NO LONGER REQUIRED for reactor operations but is still required to heat the reactor to operating temperature at startup.

Rossi also says that the reaction temperature is between 400 to 600C. This means that the update is applied to the LOW TEMPERATURE REACTOR.

NaAlH4 was mechano-chemically synthesized with high energy ball-milling method. The effect of synthesis conditions such as milling time, H2 pressure, chloride catalysts, and solvents was investigated to enhance the synthesis of NaAlH4. Among the chloride catalysts, TiCl4 showed the highest H2 pressure decrease which means the highest NaH conversion to NaAlH4. Furthermore, when the NaAlH4 was synthesized with THF solvent, it exhibited the higher H2 pressure decrease than that of sample prepared without THF solvent. This is mainly due to the synergy effect of TiCl4 catalyst and THF solvent.

A special problem arises when small fishes develop an unhealthy ambition to swallow big fishes.


First of all please read these comments including some answers of Alain Coetmeur:

My answers-in-red to Ed Storms of yesterday were ignored not rejected with contempt and  facts. I have to accept that the F& P Cell due to its immense merit- it has shown that cold fusion- in the form of excess heat is reality- is a very strong meme. It is good, it gave us a great dream.  It is a factory of dreams - infinite energy- so it is not recognized that it has inherent weaknesses, has attained its limits and actually it was the harbinger of the Energy Solution not the Solution per se. in  sense it is an object of cult and what we have learnt by using and testing it in thousands of experiments, in some part successful- data, information, knowledge wisdom- despite their local applicability are imposed upon the entire field of LENR much extended e.g.  from palladium to all the transition metals, from 100 to 1400 C including protium beside deuterium, and lots of new features and parameters- some of them actionable. (lack of actionable parameters is the fatal weakness of PdD wet, electrolytic system. 
Strong meme - Pd D is still the genuine, true, sang-bleu core LENR- NiH a la Piantelli was always considered kind of illegal, nonexistent, intruder and LENR+ was ab ovo unacceptable.
A strange situation- a part of LENR tries to devour the whole., the small fish tries to swallow or t least kill the big fish. It is a strong initial hostility against  LENR+ and technology. PdD is so well known (?) then why try to work with other combination much less known, just because Andrea Rossi claims to have discovered a method to genarate enhanced excess heat and because a lot of Rossi replicators have obtained excess heat, even if not in the multiplicative form as Rossi says hehad. Rossi is denied, and not friendly, not with hope that he has achieved something.
I fear history of LENR will record this as a great discovery trying to stop or slow down its own progress. If no LENR+ exists or can be created the LENR field is sentenced to death.

a) A developing multi-theory concept for LENR by Alain Coetmeur

Alain Coetmeur, a friend, a thinker, contributor to EGO OUT has written a comment about theories. Very creative and valuable. I take the permission to re-arrange aLENR bit the comment, use my standard taxonomy and explain what I found the most important in the comment.

Alain says his position toward PdD, NiH and the mainly empirical methods - has evolved and is still in progress and development. Ergo, this discussion willl continue.

A single theory is not enough, not possible what we actually need is: 
two structurally different (families of) theories which will converge to the same (unity/) when science has resolved the problem.

1- the first kind of theories- can be seen as more scientific, falsifiable in the Popperian sense, more fundamental- they are tools for the experimentalist, they ac usually at the small scale but up to the meso-scale. Using them the experimentalistsdirect the way experiments are designed, which are to be replicated from the mass of available data, which sensors are to be installed, which results are to be considered failures  and which are definitely positive.

2- the second category of theories was called by Jf Geneste at LINRG Mila"theory that allows engineers  to improve continuously the technology.
These not need to be fundamental, and they can be just phenomenological in a restricted range of parameters. However it need to work well.

An approach recommended by Alain:
- make a review of all theories.
- list all key experiments on which those theories are base; 

list all critics against those theories, and list all experiments that support the         critics;
re-analyze all the theories and try to classify them,
- try to partial meta-theories that just propose a concept ewven if with less precision.

Alain gives us examples of such concept as as:  "NAE" concept , ENP concept, BEC/CQED concepts...
Such a meta theory may be like "there is a "beast" of that kind, but we don't know what it is exactly (real, isn't it, take NAE as an example?!".)
- for each theory,  met-theory, critic of theory, try to find new experiments
for each theory, meta theories, and critic, try to find new experiments, new sensors, new parameters, improving older, which can provide positive or negative argument to a theory or it's critics

Priority has to given to experiments which will give maximum information, are easier to replicate and can confirm or reject more theories

Take care to prevent any theory to take over or disappear before enough independent experiments, done with different methods, supports or eliminate those theories.

Alain considers that purely experimental work based on trial and error, improperly called "Edisonian Method" lacking a theory, will not work from more reasons, as these:
- if really you have no theory, not even phenomenological, you cannot make something work reliable
- if you have no theory you cannot know what to do to improve your technology, so no industry can emerge
- if really you have no theory, the generator/device  can explode or fail at the most dangerous moment

Alain's essay ends with:

"This is why, even if the battle of theory is mostly sterile today, this debate is what should fuel the experimentalists, even if it is the experimentalist, like the jury, who will have the last word.
A Jury without good (talentuous and desperately biased) attorneys, will be unable to understand what is important is the crime judged and may miss a key point."
Thanks, dear Alain, I hope you will make corrections, addition and updating to this strategic plan!

b) A sentence by sentence answer to Ed Storms re my beliefs and approach to LENR+
My answers in red

Peter, I'm trying to understand what your are saying, what you believe, and what you propose be done.
I am grateful for this and take it as a sign of friendship, however I have many times openly described my LENR ideology- so please do not expect surprises   

 Apparently, you want LENR to be applied as soon as possible. 
Who, in our circles does not want exactly the same? Just there are some differences
in defining and timing of the word "possible"

You want the heat to be amplified as soon as possible and you want the focus to be on the Ni-H2 system. 
For the first statement- yes,  amplification and scale -up are vitally necessary and already possible. Basisis my hypothesis of dynamic generation of NAE's, amplification means a continuous abundant supply of the active sites where the heat releasing reactions can take place- high temperatures, high mobility of the surface atoms of the metal. But it does not go easily, there are other know-how elements to be discovered for triggering and sustaining the dynamic process.
For the  second, on short term yes Ni-H is the best system available now but on long tern=m probably an other metal will be the best, my guess is the "extremist" Tungsten.

 Your emphasis is on application first and understanding second. 
A bit more precisely, I think this is reality's way, emphasis- the idea as such- not perfect understanding but already use in factories and homes does not make me too happy. But as so many times, scientific idealism is replaced by a realist, pragmatic and materialistic solution.

You believe LENR can be applied as a commercial source of energy without the mechanism being understood.
Yes, however in the best possible sense- please consider the plurivalence and multi-level nature of understanding, see the "engineering" theories in Alain's essay above
There are basic laws, principles, practises that have to be respected even if we still do not know all the details.

You believe PdD has nothing of value to offer because it makes too little energy, the electrolytic method is unsuitable for technological application, and the process is not related to what takes place when Ni-H2 is used. 
Festina lente! PdD has offered something of immense value and historical importance - has demonstrated beyond any doubt the EXISTENCE and REALITY of Cold fusion, LENR.
Unfortunately it was unable (being an uncomplete form of LENR) to reveal its identity and nature. As seeing only the hallux, you cannot evaluate the entire foot. Due to its inherent weaknesses (I am speaking about the F & P Cell) it is of no use for technological development. The process in PdD is only a part of what takes place in  high temperature cel/generator  a larvar form -cannot "fly"

 You believe no theory effectively explains the effect.
Absolutely true, and you was inspired to use the singular. LENR is a composite group of combined phenomena- in your terms= NAE genesis, NAE- working and postnuclear stages involving more disciplines. No single theory can do the job.
And a good multi-theory ledas to LENR+  usable heat release.

 Nevertheless, you have a model you accept, yet you have not revealed or explained it. 
The task is too great for me, but at least I have honestly explained why I cannot explain more. Please read "The Six Pillars of LENR+" Thank you, even if you will disagree.

Please let's use the adequate words.These disphemistic euphemisms and/or euphemistic disphemisms) are disturbing. Why should we use "ignor"e for "reject" or "unable to understand" for "disagree with"?. Is this a correct summary of your beliefs and approach?
